APRIL IS CHILD ABUSE AWARENESS MONTH

The English Nanny and Governess School of Chagrin Falls, Ohio could be in a lot of trouble. Three and a half years ago, Christina Cruz, one of their students, reported that she had witnessed a client of the school sexually abusing his 9 year old daughter. According to the reports, the school’s owners, Bradford Gaylord and Sheilagh Roth, urged her to keep that information to herself, saying that such accusations ruin lives. The two even went so far as to inform her that her “career prospects” as well as her access to job opportunities through their placement services would be contingent on whether or not she reported the incident to the proper authorities. The school also fired their placement director, Heidi Kaiser, who would have nothing to do with their scheme, and then took steps to discredit the reputation of both women.

An investigation of the man whom Cruz accused of the abuse revealed that this was not the first time he had been suspected of the crime, and has since had his children removed from his custody.

The school is in court this week for the charges of intentional infliction of emotional distress and breach of contract against Cruz, and the wrongful termination of Kaiser.
