In 2012, a nanny from Salem, MA, pleaded guilty to stealing from two families who had hired her off the website Sittercity.   One of the families discovered several valuable pieces of jewelry were missing.  She was hired by another family who also discovered jewelry and electronics missing from their home.  Instead of jail, she was offered probation and a condition that she pays restitution to the families.  Instead, after leaving court, she was arrested on a shoplifting charge.

You can help prevent this from happening in your home with background checks for your nannies.  It’s easy to get started.
