Fall Activities Nannies Can Do with Kids

October 5, 2013 Tip Sheets, Uncategorized

It seems there aren’t many people (at least in Ohio) who don’t enjoy fall. The weather is comfortable, you can buy pumpkin-flavored everything, and fun activities abound! So how can nannies make the most of this season? Here is a great combination of outdoor and indoor fun:

nature walk

Take A Nature Walk With A Sorting Basket!

Foliage, cool weather… Fall is the perfect season to walk through the park. Kids will enjoy the changing leaves and playing “I Spy” with nature.

All you need for this activity is a small, handled basket (one for each child) and a few disposable cups. From there, you can guide children through a safe part of the woods and encourage them to pick out anything that looks interesting.

caramel apple cider

Enjoy A Cup of Caramel Apple Cider!

After your walk, settle in to examine the “goods” over a cup of delicious caramel apple cider.

To make:

–       ¼ c. heavy cream

–       ¼ c. brown sugar

–       3 c. apple cider

–       ½ c. water

–       ½ c. heavy cream

–       1 T. brown sugar

In a medium saucepan, bring cream and brown sugar to a boil. Stir in cider and water; raise heat to medium high and let cider steam for about 4 minutes.

To make the caramel whipped cream topping, whip heavy cream and brown sugar in a small, chilled bowl. Soft peaks should form.

Divide among 4 mugs and top each one with 2 tablespoons of caramel whipped cream. Serve immediately.
